Canadian Born in 1983, Jeremy Fokkens interest in photography started at the age of 18 while traveling the Caribbean islands working as a professional principle dancer on a cruise line. Being a self taught photographer and traveling to more than 50 countries to date, Jeremy’s photographs communicate many details of this world with emphasis on our surrounding environment with a sole focus on the human condition. Jeremy finds a real unhindered balance with his photographs utilizing texture, depth, natural light, emotion and culture. For Jeremy, the connection is the most important part when photographing humanity. Having that connection is something that cannot be taught, it is creating a relationship with your subject, a genuine interest that is required from both sides looking past an exterior surface and looking directly into someone’s soul. As this happens, Jeremy can now capture our world in its true unguarded form where the audience can be shown a side of human existence that raises questions about ones life, creating an unbiased and honest approach to all parts of our world where the treatment of life might be misplaced or taken for granted.
