Reports to: Assistant Director for Education

Houston Center for Photography is a fast-paced 28 year-old non-profit arts organization dedicated to photography and related media. The staff is a close-knit group of fun individuals who work hard, are team players, and are committed to the organization's mission. As the Workshop Coordinator of the Houston Center for Photography, you will work with the Assistant Director for Education to carry out HCP's education mission.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Curriculum Development and Teacher / Student Relations
- Create a quarterly Educational calendar of classes, lectures, workshops, critiques, and discussions for all skill levels, ages, and a variety of interests
- Support Assistant Director for Education with Master Class programming, assisting with travel arrangements, class preparation and on site management
- Perform R&D on educational offerings of like-minded institutions
- Work with Assistant Director for Education to manage template for programming
- Create public programming related to exhibitions with input from Program Coordinator and Assistant Director for Education
- Contract and manage instructors for curriculum
- Maintain workshop signups, class sheets, and evaluations
- Maintain Digital Darkroom upkeep - updating software, checking printers, clearing desktops
- Open and close gallery
- Check students in for workshops during gallery shifts
- Answer phones, greet visitors, assist with questions
- Maintain attendance reports
- Maintain gallery cleanliness and tidiness
- Set up Classrooms for each class


Qualifications
- Knowledge of visual arts/photography
- Superior organizational, communication, multi-tasking, and administrative skills
- Be a self-starter and fast learner
- Strong writing skills
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and Windows operating system
- Proficiency with Apple computers
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
- Pleasant and professional telephone manner, professional dress
- Transportation for running errands

Wages and Schedule:
This is a part-time position.
Saturdays during gallery hours, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and office hours to be determined.
The Workshop Coordinator and the Exhibitions Assistant will be allowed to exchange weekend and evening hours on a case by case basis.
Compensation:   This is a part-time position.
