Looking for best color lab (in LA)...
for printing photographs of intricate color and illumination. Hopefully, innovative, as well.

awaken2sun   Try A & I (www.aandi.com) or The Icon (www.iconla.com).

How did you find The Whole 9?
A few friends and my dad suggested the site to me. Curious to hear how other people came to be members!

Comment

55randomclicks   The waiter at my favorite cafe gave me his card to look up his art! This is my first day on this site. I am excited for the possibilities.

stompkins   Funny, I can't really remember.....really glad I did though!

msrenda   I found it on Craigslist last year while looking for somewhere to keep my art moving. I'm so glad that I signed up with the Whole 9! I missed the NYC Peace Project night this year due to my son's illness, but am looking forward to many more East Coast Whole 9 events!

Maygirl212   I got an email from the whole 9 a couple of years ago when they first started, not sure how they found me. LOL

barbaras   ..somehow and somewhere I read about THE PEACE PROJECT ...and I DO think that it has been a right decision the join Thewhole9.com "community" ! It would have been interesting and a pelasure to join the show at Saturday in person at the Gallery 9 . Lovely , to read ( blog) that the event was "succesful" !

tiffanydavisrustam   a friend told me artist Alex Kube was looking for artists for the Topanga Earth Day Festival, and that she'd searched for them on The Whole 9. Signed up and got hooked right away!

sorchae   It's funny...I don't really remember. I think I found something about the whole 9 in some random web search right as they started. I signed up and then just kind of forgot about it...until the newsletters showed up in my inbox regularly...then I got more into it. Email marketing works kids :)

Do you know any good digital t-shirt printers?
We'd like to get some 2012 White Peace Project t-shirts printed, but our printer hit the skids. Can you recommend any good ones?

Comment

theredhead   Culture Works has nice style and responds immediately with pricing, options, etc. www.cultureworks.com

Vistaprint does a variety of printing, not just clothing, and they are an inexpensive but solid option. www.vistaprint.com

I can't upload my profile photo. Can someone tell me how they did it? Thanks.

Comment

rosendo   Hello TravelArtist,

Go to My Account and click on Edit My Profile and Portfolio.

Once there click on My Personal Photos.

From there you can upload images and sort images. The image that you sort to the far left will ultimately be your profile photo.

I hope this helps~

What type of classes would be valuable to you?
At our gallery, we hold professional development and other types of classes. What classes would you be interested in attending?

Comment

tiffanydavisrustam   Blogging & online art promo classes would be awesome!

dangerousideas   Agree with Rosendo- computer graphics & video: CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), Wordpress, Dreamweaver, AfterEffects, various Paint programs... Personally, I'd also like to see someone who has extensive and current experience teaching and administrating at a college level in the LA area (preferably in media, communications and the arts) provide specific advice on the hiring process and the various politics, ins and outs of that profession.

What new features would you like to see on The Whole 9?
We've just launched a newly redesigned TheWhole9.com. What features would get you checking in and coming back from often?

Comment

dangerousideas   As I've commented before (and agree w/ those who say so here):
A delete or edit button so we can correct typos or add stuff to posts we make. Also, a tag or something that identifies the button for 'More Galleries' so people know they exist and where to find them. The ability to comment on other's comments. The ability to use arrow keys to move through a gallery without being in 'large image' mode. the ability to log in after typing in user name and password with the 'return' key.

andre   When you view pictures the (add caption) text is in the art , i feel it takes away from the picture BUT if it were off to the side or something you can see what the artist has to say about it if anything.

andre   I would love to see a mobile friendly version to comment and post on the fly! Who's thinking the same? Peace

grool   I agree, the portfolio button should be a bit more noticeable in some way. Perhaps at the end of a portfolio there can be an option, sort of like on YouTube videos, to see more from this user.

sorchae   Something that has kind of bugged me for a while...when I send someone here to look at my art portfolio, they don't know that there is more than one gallery. The little button thing that you click on to see all the galleries isn't obvious...members know it's there...but I always have to explain in detail to people who don't know the site how to see more stuff. It would be great if that could be more clear for a random visitor! :)

What would you like to see in my blog, I Came Across?
I'm always on the hunt for new content, and would like to focus more on giving my fellow TW9 members some much needed Blog press. Selling some cool shirts? working a neat event? Know of someone, or something doing something fun, creative, or innovative? I'd like to see it! If you've got something you'd like to share, shoot me over a message!
