About my work:
Stretching my imagination is my favorite project. Beginning with a general idea, pushing my own boundaries, challenging myself to move past the expected, past what I “know”. Allowing the Creative within me to take charge.
I work in 2-D but mostly I construct, a practice I’ve enjoyed all my life. In either I grew up believing if I could “make it” (the thought/item) it was real, mine in reality.

Mediums include most anything that allows my “statement”, but mostly I love to work with sticks, paper, metal leaf/wires and words (can be books, dictionaries, of my own choosing as in writing on artworks).

All of my art contains Symbolism. Making statement, as a challenge by me, for me, to speak in a visual language, blatant and subtle, allowing the viewer to also use their own imaginations, as in “cloud gazing”, not only to see what I might have meant as I construct, but their own enjoyment of this activity of internal, personal creativity.

Symbols used may be common or archetypal, but others are “made up” by my own contemplation of how to suggest to viewer a knowledge that actually “makes sense” if time is taken to think about the work being viewed. Choice of materials, has symbolic meaning as in the sticks and sticks I choose: their size, shape, placement, color, wood type, subtle by intention.
My works are designed to have viewers attracted at first glance, then upon closer observation to find the statement(s) especially years later, when something new is discovered in the work of art lived with, look at daily…those “oh yea, I never noticed that before” moments.
This is the kind of art I like to buy and have with me daily, loving my “oh yea” moments. ..figure this is my job as artist to give to the viewers of my art.
