Roma-Ember Against Racism

The first International Festival where Roma are both guests and hosts, and where artists, scholars and activists join forces in a fascinating way. Initiator is Christian Mehr, Roma musician from Switzerland. On behalf of the organizers and the Bódvalenke Fresco Village that benefits from the festival, I share brochures and flyer created for the event.

My Profession: Art
About my work:
Boho, Bohemian, Gypset, Gypsy, all code for Rromani.

It's the Decade of Rromani/Gypsy Inclusion and the USA has been observing since 2012. Thank goodness Hitler did not kill all Gypsy/Rromani during O Baro Porajmos/The Great Rape-Devouring (what many refer to as the Holocaust), but still to this day people have forgotten our name.

Even myself, born Finnish and Rromani and adopted American, I forgot my name until recently, found my family again to discover they literally and figuratively still being beat down even murdered, heartbreaking.

Those gone now rest in peace, not let us try for peace on earth.
Visit World Artists' Intiative Khetanes, all together we end hate, or go visit Voice of Roma.

Yes colorful silver gold Boho brothers and sisters,
its good to see you again,
thank you please, heal yourself first then help to remember our name, Love.

I am folk and I art liberally testing tolerance to free will.

W.A.T.?

I am a Writer, Artist, and Teacher, imperfect human yet committed to harmony and peace.
I art AND collaborate with individuals and local/global organizations for tolerance: life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.

Background:
An adult international adoptee (American-Finnish-Rromani/Gypsy), I worked in mainstream and private education/wellness for almost 20 years, collaborating with youth and their community (parents-teachers-doctors-lawyers-poiliticians). Now, I'm teacher gone rogue, on special assignment as a folk artist, and I see adoption abstractly as a kind and universal language of lifelong learning.

So, I express arts liberally:
to increase positive and tolerant individual/group identity
AND
to answer the call "10 Million Roma = 10 Million Different Stories. Let's Fight the Prejudice" (2010 HRI/CEU Rroma students)

Another way to view the work I do these days: I apply mixed media (articles, assemblages, blogs/sites, collages, graphics, paintings, performances) to study, practice, spread tolerance in an attempt to leave no child behind, not even the ones grown into elders, not even myself.

When called upon, I do:
exhibit folk art in what like to call traveling tolerance exhibit
AND/OR
coach (art/walk/talk/write) others through dream/goal mapping process with a card game.

Follow my American-Finnish-Rroma perspectives at Google site "Gypsy Myth Debunked".

In the meantime, keep happy ~ kushti bok!
