"Live Joyfully and Manifest Bliss"
I am a: Woman
Interested In: Women, Men
Seeking: Networking, Friends
Education: College Degree
City: Los Angeles, CA
Country: United States
Profession: Artist/Writer/Gallery Director-Curator
My Causes:
I believe in
I believe in making this world a better place by bringing forth the joy within and transforming suffering into bliss. Striving to have a "Joy Centered" life is imperative with so many opposing forces happening in this world at this time. Creating art and viewing art can be tremendously healing. Healing ourselves leads to inner peace. It is easier to love and accept others when we are coming from a balanced state of harmony. Our ability to have a better understanding of our world and others in it comes naturally when we can be more loving and compassionate. I believe that as more people start awakening to their power to influence our planet positively, many amazing changes may take place. We have a choice whether to live in harmony with others or not. I believe that the Arts are crucial to cultivating ideas and awareness. Sharing our experiences and educating others through our art is a starting point to build communities that are conscious.
How I would make this world a better place
Devoting myself to things that make this planet more beautiful is my desire. Sharing my impressions of this world (and beyond) through various mediums has been my passion. Art, Music, Poetry... these are some of the areas I use to express myself as an artist. The themes I explore often help me to connect with others that have had similar experiences who then share them with me. Through this sharing, a healing often takes place. Some of my art is thought provoking, some of it is tranquil. The impact of the different images I create and what happens for the viewer is always a revelation for me. Making art and music are two ways I can impact this world in a positive way. I have been practicing Buddhism for 30 years and the daily practice includes many prayers for the peace and enlightenment of our planet.
Who and what I'm looking for
I am looking for kindred spirits to have "art salons" with. I am interested in collaborating with photographers on some projects that I'm developing. On the weekends I often go to openings to look at the work of other artists and see if they would be a good "fit" for the gallery my friend is opening @ the PDC.

My Profession: Art
About my work:
I first started exhibiting my artwork in 1979 at the Hawaiian Museum of Art after attending a summer course at the Hawaiian Academy of Art in Honolulu. Collage is my preferred medium, although I enjoy watercolors and assemblage sculpture as well. I often work with a certain idea which evolves into a series. A "Romance Collage" series began when I was attending USC, where I graduated with a double major in fine arts/drama. I started making photographic books while studying with photographer/professor Robbert Flick, and continue enjoying this medium. In the 90's I exhibited in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and then took a hiatus from creating fine art while I focused on songwriting. In 2004 I took a job as a freelance illustrator at Brighton, a jewelry, belt, and accessory company. My submissions for "The Peace Project" are from a series with a planetary theme. The first works of the series are versions of "Joy Emerging from the Center of the Earth." "Beauty Returning to Earth" and "The Shimmering New World " are the newer works, along with creations specific to the theme of "Peace,Love, and Understanding."
