Past Clients and Projects include:
Boeing technical writing for overseas maintenance manuals, articles for Airport magazine, local newspapers, ghost writing for script writers, redoing telemarketing and marketing formats for a few companies (boring), some yet to be published films and plays
I chose this occupation because:
Can't find any regular work in them thar hills.
The best lesson I ever learned was:
Everything you'll ever need is already out there...
The greatest influence on my work is:
Twain, Camus, J. Swift, Kesey, the byrds, digging in the dirt, college girls from Madison WI, William Carlos Williams, Pound (Ezra, not smokable), every word I've ever read...
Why you'd want to hire me:
I can write your lifestory, create poetry to make you cry, get your film script to win at Cannes, and fix your barn, motorcycle and tortured psyche
WRITING SAMPLES:
Title: Foothill biodiversity
Type: local article
Description: The Red Roach of Sonora
Sample:  Tuolumne County’s Rarely Visited Red Hills A.C.E.C. (Area of Critical Environment Concern

Before serving the main course, it is important to talk about environmental efforts that are deemed successful. A close friend had participated in re-introducing wolves to Yellowstone National Park. I was only sort of listening since we were eating dinner and at my end of the long table sat folks discussing other matters. When Tom stated that the wolves in just twenty or so years had greatly improved (more...)
Title: Bohdisattva 77
Type: Satirical Short Story
Description: a new age tale
Sample:    Bodhisattva 77’s Global Soup Remedy

Heads of state across the globe were recently devastated by a newsflash that sublimely solved all of the world’s aggregate problems, increased personal liberty, equalized lifestyle and defused political rhetoric for all time. Bodhisattva 77, the seventy-seventh Bodhisattva to return from the Overcosm to help mankind, has succinctly yet humbly and with hat-in-hand recommended one simple solution that every man, women and child could easily adopt to allevi (more...)
Title: Dumb and Dumber
Type: short story
Description: a lucky day
Sample: Dumber than Dumb The bad decisions humans make are frequently the hasty, “I won’t get in any trouble,’ style moronic moves. One incredibly stupid and addled decision was decades ago on highway 101 just south of the San Francisco airport. It began the day before when I straddled my R100 BMW for a ride to my current trim’s place in Burlingame. I had purchased a few months earlier a Swedish Mauser 6.5 mm rifle at a gun shop in South San Francisco. It was brand new, never used and sealed and (more...)
Title: Crystal's Tail (Tale)
Type: short story
Description: A Dog's Tale
Sample: Crystal’s Tale (tail) as of 2-26-01

Crystal is/was a 19 year old Queensland Blue Heeler bitch I got in 1983 while caretaking a ranch at the physical end of Bear Gulch Rd in Woodside, CA, a remote place of unusual beauty and charm with its mix of grasslands and virgin growth redwood groves. This raw nature and fantastic isolation while still in the Bay Area was charming but lonely. Crystal was off a ranch in Morgan Hill/Gilroy where my current trim kept her horse. The resident (more...)
Title: Senior Sierrans Exploited by Viagre Copycat
Type: satire article
Description: satire
Sample: Senior Sierra men still exploited by Viagra copycat

Our newsroom initially reacted as most men and women would; laughing out loud about a problem that was ‘no problem’. Then a call to the local emergency ward explained the scope of misuse and the insidious way it was administered. As the story progressed, most of our staff slowly accepted the serious nature of this drug abuse. We now know we are talking about drug abuse. All over town, young women can be seen draped languorously over older m (more...)
Title: Western Roadside Psychodrama
Type: Poetry
Description: you decide
Sample: Note to self--enunciate with nasal, Dylanesque twang

I woke up burning poetry
in a high plains revelry
blinked my eyes, tried to see
oh driver please stop for me

On the prairie, in the valley
ancient tracks of Bison herds
in a valley brown with humps
buzzards feast on skinless lumps

I woke up burning poetry
in a high plains revelry

woven squaw papoose packs
hung up on white aspen
beside the starving dogs
not your average roadside

wagon tracks snake invisably
towards (more...)
