My Vision of Peace
This image was made under my direction with homeless, formerly homeless and socially conscious youth who were responding to the question "What kind of world do you want to live in?" The youth chose to honor Amma and Gandhi as heroes of a sustainable, peaceful world, filled with abundant nature. 350 young people worked together to create a vision bigger than any single individual. AHOproject.org, which serves homeless youth in Marin County, California, organized the project, which was a leadership training program in conjunction with UnityThroughCreativity.net.

Medium
Acrylic paint, paper, colored pencil, glue on 8'x'8' masonite panels. This is one of four portable murals making up the Seasons of Hope Singing Trees.

An amazing collaboration of strong spirits. For a few years, I taught an art class for homeless women in Seattle...I learned a lot and was always excited to see the amazing art that they came up with! You are doing "the great work" and this entry is a beautiful example of kindred spirits dealing with great hardships, coming together to get outside of their own diffculties for a while to explore the strength of their creativity. Kudos to all!
