My Vision of Peace
Our piece, relates to peace in it's most obvious form, the image of Buddha.
We named this piece "Nirvana", because of it's literal translation to the word peace.
Buddha is a legendary teacher known just for his experience with Nirvana.
Nirvana by it's definition is where "there is no earth, nor water, nor fire, nor air, it is neither this world nor another world, and there is no sun, no moon, no birth and no death. There lies the end of all of man's suffering." ..and thus lies the beginning of man's true peace. All mankind innately seeks peace, and the image of the Buddha is one beautiful way to see peace.

Medium
The mediums that were used are, metallic leaf, patinas, encaustic wax and ink.
We apply the metallic leaf to the canvas, after which we apply the patina formula to the leaf to change the color, and bring movement to the leaf. After the leaf has turned, we then take the piece and decide which medium should go next. Whether it be to transfer an image onto it, using encaustic wax medium, or to add another layer of leaf or ink, we allow for the original layer of leaf and it's reaction to the acids, guide us towards the next application.
