My Vision of Peace
When I was a child my father took me on travels around the world and Africa was one of the countries we visited. We went to a Gambian village where life was hard and very basic, yet I was struck by the bright coloured dress and happiness of the people who lived there. Theirs was such a simple existence, with very few possessions and no modern conveniences, yet both children and adults danced and smiled. They seemed to possess an inner peace that modern day society craves but has long-lost.

The African woman represents the strength, beauty and inner peace of the women in that village. She was painted in memory of my wonderful dad who died in 2004.

There is such a profound peaceful dignity I feel from this painting.

great connection of colors and shapes, interesting composition... usually does not work as interesting, rather boring, but here it is quite opposite
