My Vision of Peace
A Kazakh eagle hunter of Mongolia's westernmost Bayan-Olgii province shares a moment with his eagle. The bond between man and bird is clear.

A Golden Eagle chick is collected from a nest high in the Altai Mountains; many months are then spent rearing and training the eagle to become an extremely effective hunter on behalf of its master, who reveres the eagle and tends to it with great care and affection. It is not uncommon for an eagle to live inside the family yurt.

After 10 or 15 years, the eagle is released back into the wild. While at first it may seem inhumane to capture a wild animal, this close relationship between man and bird has ensured the survival of the Golden Eagle in the regionâ€"an example of peace expressed through how we care for our planet and our fellow co-inhabitants, human or otherwise.
