My Vision of Peace
This a series of paintings based on peace and hope within our own communities. On several recent visits to my hometown city of Detroit, a once thriving downtown metropolis I was struck by how it looked like a war torn city. I was so moved by the dilapidated mansions and office buildings that once housed the car industry leaders that I took several photos and created an abstract series of paintings, my own comment on the devastation of years of neglect and segregation in Detroit. Through this process I became more aware of the fact that we need to work for peace, hope and equality within our own communities if we wish to create peace around the globe.
The paintings represent the rebuilding of a community. The colors and patterns are inspired by the fallen architecture in the city. The words and titles for each piece are a possible commentary on where the city was, is and perhaps what we can do to create peace in our own home.

Oil, acrylic

This is a great piece. Well done. I also enjoyed reading your summary. I could relate that to places in my own country - South Africa.
