(Hint: don't let bright colors fool you.) The situation: You've just arrived in Italy and have already checked out a couple of piazzas, but thanks to the summer heat, you're in dire need of a cool down. Wisely, you decide to head for a gelateria. But with so many shops around, which one should you pick? And what to order? Chill. You (more...)
Title: Travel to Paris - See the Arts
Type: Article
Description: Travel column
Sample: In a city so renowned for its art and cultural life, it's nearly impossible to figure out where to begin your Parisian adventure. With its cafes, boutiques, opera houses, museums and galleries, the city has so much to offer that it attracts more visitors than any other city in the world. A good place to start your art education in Paris is in the city's world-renowned museums. Chronologically, start out at the Louvre, which houses all art up to 1848. Housed in a former palace, the Venus de (more...)
Title: The Bone Room
Type: article
Description: Shop review
Sample: It's the holiday season again, and you're trying to think of creative gifts for everyone. You head out to Berkeley's Solano Avenue, home of some nifty shops and boutiques. Then you come across The Bone Room, which seems like an odd place to find gifts, but who knows, maybe you'll find something for Uncle Marvin, so you might as well check it out. Once you've walked in, you realize it's more than just a quirky store. It's practically a natural history museum, with all its genuine fossils and (more...)
Title: Ferry Building Marketplace

Sample: Wandering around Embarcadero, you're dismayed by the abundance of fast food and chain restaurants. You need something quick but a step up from an average pizza joint. Enter the Ferry Building. At this heavenly, 65,000-square-foot food hall, there is no shortage of quality quick food and gourmet restaurants. It's got everything from gelato and chocolate to seafood and gourmet burgers—over 40 restaurants and food shops in all. The real treat takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays (as well as (more...)
Title: Life Doesn't End in Your 20s, Ladies
Type: article
Description: Event review
Sample: In a society in which young women feel pressured to idolize and model themselves after glamorous celebrities, it is difficult for them to embrace the uniqueness that makes them special. But as college women enter their 20s, they struggle with both their identities and with life. Reality definitely doesn't mirror many of the images seen on television and in movies, depicting people as beautiful, thin and having nothing to worry about. Julia Bourland, the author of "The Go-Girl Guide: (more...)
Title: Cheap Textbooks Can Be Found Online
Type: article
Description: Article on finding cheap textbooks
Sample: Your room is littered with bright yellow and blue bags, as you mull over a long receipt in a corner. You spent $200 on books for only one class?! Ridiculous. Coupled with the enormous bill you just paid the UC Regents last month, your finances aren't looking that great. Sharp increases in UC tuition are only one part of the financial strains on students and their families. High textbook prices have also frustrated students and threatened to empty their wallets. Currently, the easiest way for (more...)
